Boy oh boy, the good chiptune releases are just piling up this month. Guess I'll go into a little posting frenzy today (at the risk of having nothing to post for the rest of the week), because otherwise I'll lose track myself.

Anyway, after nearly a year of silence, Ubiktune is back with a new FM funk collection, as usual featuring a high-profile rooster of artists such as zabutom, linde, Shnabubula, cTrix, Keishi Yonao, and more. Soundshock 3 marks the end of the series. Now that's what I call ending it on a high note.

Staying on the topic of game soundtracks, here's a new one from Norrin_Radd, comprised of a massive onslaught of highly energetic tunes in (accurately emulated) Sega Genesis/Megadrive FM style. Blast processing!

[album] Biteration I: Genesis of Consequence by Inverse Phase

Some new Sega FM radness by Inverse Phase. Biteration I isn't so much about recreating "dat classic Sega feel", as it is about moving forward in terms of style. Also, disclaimer: Since some of the tracks were originally made for a poop-themed game, the album contains a lot of lovely fart noises.

There are plans to release this album on an actual cartridge, so head over to the bandcamp page and pre-order one if you'd like to support that project.

Never heard of City Guys before, but boy am I glad I checked out their latest, self-titled release. Super-slick SEGA Genesis/Megadrive flavoured FM funk!

[album] Nexus Genesis by Hunty

While we're at it, here's another one from Ubiktune, released just a couple of days ago.

Nexus Genesis was supposed to be the soundtrack for Sonic Nexus, a Sonic fan game for the SEGA Genesis/Megadrive that was developed in 2006-2008. Unfortunately the game never made it beyond demo stage. Well, at least we're getting this kickass music by Hunter Bridges aka Hunty now.

Hiya folks, happy new year to you all! Ancient Wonderworld is back with some exiting news that have piled up over the last few weeks.

First and foremost: check out this awesome new VGM/chip-prog release from Pterodactyl Squad! This last installment of lpower's Abinox trilogy is one epic ride through time and space. Released in late December, is easily ranks as one of the best releases of 2014 in my opinion.

Work on Prodigy Tracker (formerly known as YMDJ) is coming along nicely, it seems. Here's a video showcasing the latest progress on the new native Sega Megadrive/Genesis tool:

More FM goodies, this time coming from a Sound Blaster 16. "The Arrival" is the debut album of Warez Waldo, who is obviously no stranger to OPL3 synthesis. Leaning towards dark, quirky New House with heavy influences from early 90s MS-DOS games, this release is quite something.

[soft] YMDJ - Sega Genesis/Megadrive Tracker

After years of hoping for a native Sega Genesis/MD tracker, it is finally happening! Behold, YMDJ - an LSDJ inspired tracker that runs on actual hardware.

The tracker is currently at a very early alpha stage, but it already looks very promising.

A rather eclectic set of gloomy, industrial-technoish music made with a 4-track tape recorder and various chipsynths including midiNES, AY3, SammichFM, and more. Probably not everybody's cup of tea, but I quite enjoyed the dark mellow mood of it.
